I have returned to oil after a six-month hiatus. Every winter I like to paint seasonal fruit. This small (11 x 14") painting of persimmons is the first of a series.
Pommegranates and Persimmons
Here's another winter fruit still life. 12 x 16" The only reason for painting these is that I felt I was out of practice with round objects and the modeling of fruit in particular. I realized this while teaching painting at the Richmond Art Center and decided to create myself a "round object modeling" boot camp during the winter vacations. These paintings are always popular.
